About This Program

The Alliance for Cardio-Metabolic Health and Research – Kenya (ACMHR-K), in collaboration with Kitui County Referral Hospital, successfully conducted a CPD-accredited Continuing Medical Education (CME) session focused on the impact of industrial trans fats on heart health. Held on 20th May 2026 at the New OPD Boardroom, the CME brought together healthcare professionals, students, and hospital staff for an engaging educational session aimed at increasing awareness of the growing burden of cardiovascular diseases linked to unhealthy dietary fats. The session highlighted the health risks associated with industrial trans fats, including their contribution to cardiovascular diseases, obesity, metabolic disorders, and other non-communicable diseases. Participants also explored strategies for prevention, healthier dietary practices, and the importance of policy and public awareness in reducing trans-fat consumption in Kenya. The event formed part of ACMHR-K’s broader mission to promote cardiometabolic health through education, research, advocacy, and community engagement.
